Commitment to Community
Our commitment to service extends beyond our corporate boundaries and into the community around us. We encourage our employees to volunteer for service projects they find personally meaningful. We all share a commitment to the community where we work and live.
Spotlight on Service
Artel is delighted to be part of the Canines for Combat Veterans division of
Dogs for Deaf and Disabled Americans (NEADS) through service dog trainer Artel employee, Arlene Mure.
“As a military family, we feel a strong connection to our combat veterans,” says Arlene of her family’s decision to become involved in NEADS. “NEADS, through their Canines for Combat Veterans program, allows us the opportunity to give something back to our soldiers who have served.”
Arlene and her husband, Don, raise the service dogs from puppies, socializing them and preparing them for advanced training before placement with a combat veteran. “Artel offers our NEADS's puppy the necessary workplace exposure to socialize and prepare them for their very important role as a service dog,” states Arlene. She goes on to add, “Words cannot express the deep feelings of accomplishment when you see your puppy paired with a disabled veteran.” It’s a big day at Artel when Arlene visits with one of her trainees. It is an event many employees look forward to, and take pride in knowing they’ve been a part of providing a very special dog to a deserving combat veteran.
